The Face of Poverty has Changed

Thank you for your continued support of The WoodGreen Foundation

At a time when philanthropy is increasingly vital to the well-being of our city, the commitment of our donors is instrumental in WoodGreen’s ability to support some of our most vulnerable residents.

We know that the face of poverty is changing in Toronto. Today, it could be your neighbour, your colleague or even a family member. We now need to think differently and act collectively if we want a more equitable and liveable city for all.

With donor support, WoodGreen helps 40,000 people each year, including: individuals and families living on low-incomes; newcomers; vulnerable seniors; mother-led families transitioning from shelters; at-risk youth; individuals seeking employment; people with mental health issues and developmental disabilities; and older men transitioning from homelessness.

Thank you again for your continued support.

The WoodGreen Foundation is the charitable arm of WoodGreen Community Services.

The WoodGreen Foundation will accept gifts restricted to a specific purpose for WoodGreen Community Services provided the organization can reasonably utilize the gift. The Foundation applies a fee, to all restricted donations, of up to 10 percent. This fee provides the Foundation with increased capacity to raise and grant funds for priority needs of WoodGreen Community Services as they work to enhance self-sufficiency, promote well-being and reduce poverty. The fee also allows the Foundation to cover its administrative costs such as stewardship, granting, and reporting.

In the unlikely event that the Foundation is of the opinion that it is impractical to continue to apply the gift to the designated purpose, the Foundation may redesignate the purpose of the gift, in consultation with the donor, where possible, using its best efforts to adhere as closely as possible to the original intent of your gift.

The Foundation supports the vital work of WoodGreen Community Services by creating awareness and helping to inspire philanthropic support to enable WoodGreen to create new paths to opportunity for some of the most vulnerable members of the community.

The Foundation provides an opportunity for donors to become meaningfully engaged in WoodGreen’s work ― enhancing self-sufficiency, promoting well-being and reducing poverty through innovative solutions to critical social needs. ― and to see the impact of their support in the community.
