COVID-19 Commitment

This is our #COVID19Commitment - what will yours be?

During this challenging time, we recognize the vital role WoodGreen and other social service agencies play in our city and we are doing what we can to support the needs of our community.

As we continue to respond to this crisis, we are grateful to all the generous donors who have stepped forward during this unique and challenging time and made a #COVID19commitment to help us care for our community.

The individuals and families WoodGreen serve are already among Toronto’s most vulnerable, so the impact of COVID is exacerbated for our clients. Our staff teams are facing unprecedented challenges but have mobilized quickly to meet challenges together.

We continue to respond to urgent needs including providing emergency food and toiletry supply packages for our vulnerable seniors and families, and implementing a sustainable program that will ensure food security for our clients moving forward.  As the crisis persists, we are now also directing our resources to focus on senior supports in the community to enable them to stay safe and healthy in their homes.  This includes increasing the capacity of our Seniors Helpline, which has seen a huge increase in calls since the crisis began.  We are also looking at new equipment and technology that will allow our staff to remotely connect with clients in their homes so that they can continue to benefit from many of our frontline services — including mental health counselling; financial empowerment and employment services; youth programs, and even adult day programs for seniors.

We are so thankful for the response from our community, which has allowed us to respond to COVID-19 and support some of Toronto’s most vulnerable individuals and families.  However, as this crisis continues, so does the need.  If you have not already made your #COVID19commitment contribution, please consider donating online to support WoodGreen. Your donation will go directly to help the individuals and families we serve during these uncertain times. Whether it is the $5 a day you are not spending on your daily coffee while you are self-isolating or you just want to help those less fortunate in our city during this crisis – you will be a Difference Maker! Thank you – please be safe.
