$10M Housing

Expand supportive housing for seniors, individuals with mental health issues, and those transitioning from the streets or shelters.

We provide the wrap-around support people need to become independent, and empower them to move from the street to transitional housing and finally to permanent homes.

We help vulnerable seniors aging at home, provide transitional housing for newcomers, rescue women and children from shelters, and provide a promising future for youth aging out of foster care.

WoodGreen is Toronto’s largest, non-municipal, affordable housing provider. We provide a home for more than 1,200 residents, in more than 800 units, and offer a range of assisted-living services and other supports within our buildings.

Your support will allow:

  • Creation of a new Housing Development Finance Fund that will support the development of more than 2,000 new affordable housing units with wrap-around support services for seniors and individuals with mental health disorders.
  • Revitalization of current properties to improve access to services, build community and decrease client isolation.
    • Consolidation of supports for a more integrated approach to homelessness-prevention enabling earlier intervention and stabilization of clients through housing referral services and counselling to help reduce the risk of individuals spiraling into poverty.
  • Enhanced programming in WoodGreen’s “First Step to Home” transitional housing program for older men who have endured years of life on the streets. This program provides on-site health services and the skills the residents need to keep them permanently off the streets.
