Community Volunteer Therapist
About the position:
WoodGreen’s Walk-in Counselling service offers an immediate, no-cost counselling session to adults, couples, youth and families. No appointment is necessary; clients are welcome to walk in.
Commitment:
Volunteers are expected to work one 4-hour shift per month over a 12-month period.
Location:
WoodGreen’s Walk-in Counselling service takes place out of our 815 Danforth Avenue location.
What you’ll be doing:
While meeting a critical need in the community for accessible mental-health counselling, volunteers are offered the opportunity to work in partnership with a team of mental health professionals in a dynamic and supportive environment to continue to develop their clinical skills and to work with a diverse client population who come with a broad range of concerns.
What we’re seeking:
We’re looking for professionally trained therapists who have a completed clinical graduate degree (MSW, M.Ed., M.A. Couns. Pysch.), are registered with a provincial regulatory college (OCSWSSW, CRPO, CPO), have relevant psycho-social counselling experience, strong theoretical knowledge and clinical skills, a keen interest in working within a brief, competency-based, collaborative framework and are fluent in English.
Training:
- Orientation to WoodGreen’s programs, policies, and procedures.
- There is a comprehensive screening and training program for all therapists prior to beginning this volunteer role.
Shift Times:
Walk-in Counselling is open Tuesdays & Wednesdays every week from 4:00pm to 8:00pm – volunteers are expected to commit to at least one shift per month.
